Expanding upon its investigations of the American Shakers, Furnishing Utopia widens its survey of utopian design by reflecting upon modernism’s root ideals, and imagining new modes of living harmoniously within, around, and without its conventions. “Drawings Upon Framework” will feature hand-drawn conceptual ideations from 20+ international designers alongside historical drawings and prints from Herman Miller’s archives to contextualize a deeper understanding of modernism’s legacy and future.
