DREI is an adjustable pendant light. Reduced to basic elements, the visual appearance of the triangle is amplified by a monochrome color scheme for all parts including the tube, wire, rope and socket. By moving the pendants’ tubular steel arm up or down the position and angle of the light source can be modified, creating variations of the overall triangular silhouette. The reduction of the design emphasises the function and visual dynamics of the lamp. I’m referencing the work of Jean Prouvè, Alexander Calder and Charlotte Perriand who all playfully explored the dialog between function and balance.
